Setting Up Your Account with MICHUSA

The following table should help you decide what machine name or account name you should use when you are asked to enter one.

Service Machine Name
NNTP Server (News) news.123.net
POP3 Server (email) mail.michusa.com
IMAP Server (email) mail.michusa.com
SMTP Server (email) mail.123.net or smtp.michusa.com
HTTP Server (WWW) www.michusa.com
FTP Server ftp.michusa.com
Authorization Account [email protected] (replace "userid" with your login name)
POP Account [email protected] (replace "userid" with your login name)
Home Page URL (http://www.michusa.com/userid (replace "userid" with your login name)
Primary DNS Server 66.103.244.4
Seconday DNS Server 66.103.244.5

At this point, we should stress that it is very important that you have your software configured correctly. If you don't, what works now may not work at a later date. For example, if you are installing a news reader and need to know what to enter when asked for an NNTP server, you could look in the table for the NNTP Server service, and read across to find the machine name, which would be news.michusa.com, in this case.

As a second example, suppose your electronic mail reader needs to know your return address and your POP account. From the table, we see that the return address should be [email protected], and the POP account would be [email protected] Note that in this case, we need to replace userid with your actual michusa.com login ID, so if your login ID was johndoe, your return address would be [email protected], and your POP account would be [email protected]
